For Visibilia at Invisibilia | Music for the exhibition of the artist Michele Cossyro
Presentation
A sonic journey, a fusion between music and visual art, where notes and words intertwine among Michele Cossyro’s abstract paintings with the intention of creating an immersive and multidimensional experience. The concert will be divided into four songs that alternate all five sections of the piece Al di Là del Buio, where the musical creativity of Emiliano Imondi joins the artistic vision of Michele Cossyro.
It will be precisely Al di Là del Buio, with its five parts, which will act as a common thread through this sound journey between mirrors. The five sections represent the state of mind that the observer experiences in front of Cossyro’s mirror paintings: Fisarmoniche – Mondi Paralleli.
Like an “accordion painting” by Michele Cossyro, Al di Là del Buio is a composition made of reflections, fragments and different angles. Cossyro’s Fisarmoniche – Mondi Paralleli are paintings that are sliced vertically and angled with mirrors (creating an accordion effect), where on one side you see the painting in its entirety, while on the other only mirrors emerge. The observer, moving in the space, experiences a changing vision of the work, now seeing the square, now the mirrors, now a balance between the two.
Al di Là del Buio is built according to the same principle: a main musical theme is “sliced” and reflected, developing five different perspectives, each accompanied by a poetic verse that guides the listener through a different sound experience. Each observation angle corresponds to a different point of view:
– From the far left, the viewer sees only the painting, where the reflection is on the expressed image.
– From the far right, he sees only the mirrors, where the reflection becomes more personal, on the observer himself.
– In intermediate positions, a balance is created between picture and mirror, where perception is confused and enriched.
Within this journey, two arias and two duets (L’amo e il mare, Aria di Odisseo, Echoes between space and time, Specchio d’ombra) are inserted as reflections of the spectator’s inner world. Each aria represents a part of the experience of those who observe the painting and, in the mirror, they lose themselves in a world of images and sounds. Thus, as Narcissus reflects himself and sees himself, the listener is confronted with universal themes: loss, travel, time and space, and finally, reflection on himself and on art.
L’amo e il mare is inspired by the “Aste” series of works; Specchio d’Ombra to the series of works called “Narciso”; Aria di Odisseo is inspired by the sea, which is a recurring theme in Cossyro’s works, Echi tra Spazio e Tempo is inspired by the “Black Holes” series of works.
This sonic journey is not only intended to be a musical experience, but also an encounter with visual art, where the viewer’s mind is lost in the reflections of images and sounds. Like Odysseus lost on his journey, the spectator immerses himself in a sea of emotions and thoughts, guided by the arias that reflect the infinite facets of his perception.
We wish you an intense and reflective journey… beyond the darkness.
